Sofia Latgé Tovar

I am a PhD student at The Strange Lab, interested in the neurological basis underlying memory function, with a focus on episodic memory in super-agers (people aged 80+ with episodic memory at least as good as that of healthy people 20-30 years younger). The main goal of my project is to provide a comprehensive characterization of the brain and phenotype of super-agers that may protect against age-associated memory loss.

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine at the Fluminense Federal University, and my MSc degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, with a dissertation on self-awareness in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and their ability to recognize deficits. Also, I worked at IDOR as a research assistant, investigating the neural bases of human affiliative emotions.
